Six Word Saturday & Sundays In My City
Friday Meme's
First up the Friday Fragments...Thanks to the Unknown Mami for being a summer host.
Also thanks to Hilary for hosting Four Fill Ins. This week’s statements:
- This week I agreed to trade offices. I actually get a window now but after seven years in mine, there is some serious moving to do. It is amazing how much you acquire after all that time.
- Of course, I decide to do this right before term is about to start. What was I thinking?
- I am planning a return trip to China for the spring next year. This time I may be able to bring Heather for at least for a week or two. This is dependent on parent willingness to engage in child care. Let's see how generous they will be. Heather is hopeful as she has never been off continent.
- Then again she has not done the 24 hours of travel or have had to put up with complete altering her night and day. Then again with our children provide great jet lag training.
- Yesterday, I spent the day getting classes ready for the fall. It seems to be coming up right quick.
- Speaking of travel, I looked at my fall schedule this year and in a quirk, I have never seen before my last class of the semester is actually right before U.S. Thanksgiving. My last exam come in December 7th. Term doesn't start again until January 8th. So, I think we can carve out some time to head back to Canada this Christmas.
Also thanks to Hilary for hosting Four Fill Ins. This week’s statements:
1) I always miss texts. I just don't look at my phone that often.
2) I love to fall asleep when I am watching sports on TV.
3) My dream pet would be a owl named Hedwick. - Seriously, I would not want a pet per se. Well maybe a fish tank but I don't really classify those in the same way.
4) I love rocking the Casbah more than chocolate. (Or ice cream!!)

Listicles - Five Impractical Things
I know listicles are suppose to be ten things but I am on the clock this AM and the kids are driving me nuts. So five it is.
5. Any heels over two inches...they may make you look more 'shapely' but more likely you just end up with a turned ankle. Then again for those of you who think crutches are an important fashion accessory.
4 30 min. lunches. I hate eating in a hurry. Meals are meant for sustenance of the body yes but also of the mind. A good conversation at lunch is a must for me. 30 min does not cut it. Then again, I am a big fan of the siesta/ tea time concept so what do I know.
3. Just about any baby accessory over $100. Seriously, they are done with them by the time they are two (if you are lucky).
2. Porn. Talk about repetitive. Insert tab A into slot B repeatedly. Yes, there are variations but unless you are the doing the performing, it is just redundant after the first five minutes.
1. Thongs - I mean, how are they supposed to contain anything? Perhaps once again I am missing the point but they seriously look uncomfortable and for the .001% of the population they actually look good on - I am still not sure they are worth the trade off. Then again, they did give me an excuse to show the Thong song video... Now you can hate me for putting this annoying but bain piercing tune in your head. Tee hee hee.
P.S. For those women who wear them so they are visible above your pants. No, that is not sexy - it just shows that you are impractical.

Monday Quiz
Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me - hosted by Acting Balanced and Touristic.
Here are FOUR QUESTIONS that everyone can answer and then you have the option to add a fifth question of your own for those who are visiting your blog to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four standard questions you answered! Grab the badge for your post if you like:
Our Questions:
1. Do you prefer brain games or games of chance?
2. How often do you misplace your keys?
3. It's National Clown Week! If you were a professional clown what would your name be?
4. What is the strangest conversation you had last week?
My answers,
1. Do you prefer brain games or games of chance?
I like both but I prefer brain teasers. Even in games of chance, I often calculate odds.
2. How often do you misplace your keys?
I am pretty good but I hate how my office door auto-locks when I leave the room. I lock myself out about one a month as a result. good thing our administrator has a universal key.
3. It's National Clown Week! If you were a professional clown what would your name be?
Clown, professor. Not that far apart. Therefore Dr. Wayne it is.
4. What is the strangest conversation you had last week?
Since I work a half block from the tourist area in Charleston, I constantly get asked for directions. In this case, I saw a couple who were clearly lost (map out, perplexed look on their faces). The big challenge this time - no English whatsoever. So charades it was. I spent 15 minutes trying to explain where the market was. The funny part was I could have walked them there and it would have been faster.
5th question - Did you do anything in your youth that would make running for political office embarrassing?

Six Word Saturday & Sundays In My City
Strange to watch regular TV again...
BTW - Erik who has been quite excited by the increase in tech - so much it has wore him out.
Friday Fragments & Fill Ins
Thanks to the Unknown Mami and Hilary for hosting.
This week’s statements:
1. Sometimes I get frustrated by slow progress
2. Time is constant but our perceptions of it are skewed or are we just slaves to linear thinking?
3. My favorite meal to cook is spaghetti, because I like to experiment with sauces.
4. When it comes to social networking, I log on blogger.
- My laptop keyboard died and I had to get it replaced. iPads and phones are good for short communication but not so much for blogging. Heather would have let me use hers but as anyone who knows me knows, I am a creature of habit. Glad to have my machine back.
- I only have 19 days until school starts again. I have had a productive summer but I have so much more to do even so. I still have two papers to write and one to resubmit. Summer is not supposed to be six days a week working time.
- Parent and sleep is an oxymoron right?
- We broke down and bought a TV this week. The tech on televisions today is pretty impressive. Then again, we also bought an aerial for the we could OTA channels. I guess that is a case of what is old becoming new again.
