Wordless Wednesday - Pelicans
Wayne is still under the weather, so I'm posting a few pics of his favorite birds to watch... these ones are part of the Salt Water sanctuary at the SC Aquarium:
The pictures are very nice... I don't think I have ever seen a real pelican! I have also never been to an aquarium, besides the tiny one at the Houston Zoo. I have always wanted to go though. I'm missing out I know. Thank you for sharing the pictures!
Such amazing birds, aren't they? Many years ago I worked in a big building (for Verizon) here in DFW that had a central courtyard, actually, more like a huge park/pond/walking trail. It was so peaceful to sit out there during my breaks and lunches and one day I noticed that up on one of the window ledges sat a Pelican. For almost a year I watched him every day. He'd occasionally dip down into the water and try to get some of the fish in the pond. Once I also saw a roadrunner there....the first and only time I've ever seen one.
Lovely!! I remember the first time I took the boys to the beach when we moved out here to California. We were on the pier and there was this huge pelican that flew and landed right by us on the railing... my middle guy Eli ran straight up to him with his hands out hoping to touch him. I had to call out and stop him, but even then the eager curiosity burned behind his eyes. :) It was great having the opportunity to swoop down at the water. Thanks for sharing!! TFCT.
Beautiful pictures! I love the pelicans at the aquarium.
