Sundays in my City - v9 - Basketball
On Friday, the coach of the C of C basketball team, Bobby Cremins - announced that he was taking a leave of absence for undisclosed medical reasons. While some will talk about his amazing coaching career, I will happily point out that every personal encounter I have had with the man - he has always been gracious and classy to me personally. I have been told by several of his players that he treats them with respect and dignity. I have heard several stories where he put basketball second to ensuring that young men playing for him focused on what was really important in life - their family, education or general personal well-being. I wish him and his family the best during these trying times.

Sounds like Coach Cremins is what sports coaches should be, as much a life coach as a basketball coach. Great action shots this week.
ReplyDeleteWith all the scandals in sports these days, this was a refreshing, heart-felt post. I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for your post below this one, the importance of the Super Bowl ahead of who's running the country...well, it boggles my mind also. Sure, I like sports like the rest of them, probably more so to others, but there ARE more important things in life. I am stymied when I sit in the Starbucks reading a book at Barnes N Noble...and the conversations are about football, baseball...etc. etc. Don't they have a life of their own, I wonder?
Now you got me started...I'll quit now, while I'm ahead....lol
Beautiful pictures, I like basketball.
ReplyDeleteAh yes - - - college bb is heating up for March and the BIG DANCE.
ReplyDeleteCoach Cremins sounds like a wonderful person! I hope he gets well soon!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Wayne. Here in India, the craze is cricket right now!
Sounds like he's a good man and you sound like a good man too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone. He sounds like a wonderful person. One who inspires!
ReplyDeleteDespite his reasons, I am amazed by the impression he left behind. Hopefully, that will carry on.
ReplyDeleteGreat action shots! Your coach sounds like a wonderful man!
ReplyDeleteIt's great we still have good people working in sports industry...
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
